Try as I might, I could never list all the reasons in the world to adopt an older pet, Not only are elderly dogs and cats abandoned in shelters every day, but they are also some of the most affectionate animals .around, Just ask Miranda!

This pet artist spends a lot of time observing animals, both at work and at home, Needless to say, she is no stranger to pets Yet even she was surprised when she brought home a 20-year-old  cat named Roxanne.

She didn't expect to stay with her new pet for long, but the old cat is still alive and thriving nearly two years later It's the sweetest thing!

Go, Roxanne! I love seeing old animals wreaking havoc, just like a child. It's  perfect proof that older pets can be just as fun, silly, and affectionate as  younger pets! My 13-year-old cockatiel is still as mischievous as  the day we rescued him, and I know there are countless other pet parents who can say .the same thing about their fur babies, What a gift it is to care for them throughout  their lives!

Miranda – AKA @mirpeachyy – has given Roxanne the life of every cat's dreams. She has cat toys, comfortable clothes, and lots of space to explore at home. The best part is that she has a devoted owner who is willing to love her no matter what.

Adopting a senior pet may seem intimidating, but you'll quickly realize that you're in for a lot of love and joy. Sure, you may need to adapt to your pet's needs as he or she grows, but that's exactly the same as  any other pet, Besides, what you consider “old” for an animal may not be as old as you think! The oldest recorded cat  lived to be  38 years old, so Roxanne could live a  long time.
